Soup-er Cooking Session

Can you tell a leek from celery or a courgette from a cucumber? Can you make a delicious vegetable soup from fresh ingredients? The children in Year 4 can. On Friday Sarah, from the Countryside Trust came in to work with the children and help them to make their own hearty vegetable soup. Just right for warming you up on a cold winter's day. This was the children's first session working with Sarah on their year-long Food Discovery Project. The cooking session involved hygiene, safe use of equipment, following a recipe, preparation of vegetables, measuring quantities and social skills in working together. After all of their hard work the children enjoyed sitting down to eat their soup together. Some of the children's comments... Best Friday I ever had - Kieran, I tried some vegetables I didn't even know I liked - Mollie, the vegetable soup was brilliant - Abi, considering I never liked vegetables, now I do - Joshua, glorious - Leo.
