The plants in the Reception garden have been invaded by caterpillars which gave the children a lovely opportunity to see caterpillars in the wild and of a different variety to the ones we had in the nursery. The children also saw the leaves that the caterpillars had eaten through!
Some children held a caterpillar. They all took care to hold it gently in the palm of their hand and then quickly returned it to the plant.
Sports Activities Morning!
Thank you to all the parents that managed to attend the event and share some sporting activities with their children. It was lovely to see you sharing the Learning Diaries with your children and commenting on their progress. We loved the comments and drawings you left on our graffiti sheet too.
We have displayed many of the photographs and the children's comments on the nursery wall. Please come in and have a look.
The children's interests were captured by the return of a friend from holiday. All the talk of beaches and sea led to us setting up a beach with 'proper' sand and a 'deep blue sea with sharks' and seaweed.
The children enjoyed making sand castles, adding water to make moats and catching fish and sea weed in our new nets.
We observed other changes this week. The children's favourite one was exploring how clay changed when water was added to it. At first it was lumpy and made great mud cakes. Then they enjoyed the way it became a muddy swamp for their dinosaurs. Another day, they found that it could flow down ramps and lots of role play happened once the children discovered that they could pour it just like water.
