What a busy start to Term 4!

We had so much fun when Riley Hunt's Mum kindly came to share lots of interesting items and facts with Key stage 1.
On our E-Safety afternoon we learnt how to stay safe online and never play games that are too old for us.
Always look at the age rating on the box.
Always tell an adult if something makes you feel unsafe.
This week we have practiced telling the time. We looked at different times of the day and have been trying really hard to make different times on our clocks.
We have looked at O'clock, quarter past, half past and quarter to.
In Year 2 this week we were testing materials to see which ones would be best for building a bridge. We had so much fun working as a team. We used: Straws, Tin Foil, Spaghetti and Bricks.
What a fantastic day we've had! We have had an amazing time at M Shed looking at all the transport.

This morning Year 2 enjoyed visiting the drama studio and practicing their measuring skills. We measured an ELF jump using a meter stick and cubes. We are learning all about CM.
What a fantastic week Year 2 have had, the Christmas play was a huge success. We had so much fun performing to all the parents and carers.

This week in Year 2 we have been busy practising for our christmas production.
In our cross-curricular learning this week we tried to build houses strong enough to keep out the Big Bad Wolf.
As part of our materials topic we tried out the suitability of straw, sticks and bricks.
In maths this week we are looking at different directions.

Year 2 are really enjoying their topic on The Great Fire of London, we have produced some amazing work. We have all been writing some fantastic Diary enters and amazing statements about the Fire.

Using our SENSES to write a Firework Poems
Remember to learn these common exception words for 5 minutes EVERYDAY.
Today we had so much fun, we learnt all about Diwali. We have learnt a special Diwali song, we've made Diva Lamps, we have made firework pictures and we have look at repeating patterns.
Maths this week :
The children have been challenging themselves at their number bonds to 10, 20 and 100.
Here is a game you can play at home, give your child a number between 0-20 and ask them to find its pair. The aim is to be able to zap the number back as quickly as possible.
Big Day Out
What a fantastic day we had at the tropicana and the beach. We took part in some great sports activites, before moving onto creating our own sand sculptures. We also watched a fantastic show from the 'Balloon Man' he was amazing and he even fit inside a balloon!!! WOW!

What an exciting afternoon we had, we went on a hunt to find as many different bugs as we could. We explored all the different habitats where bugs live.
This week in English we have been looking at describing words. I can describe my ice lolly, so we enjoyed some refreshing, sticky and colourful ice lolly's.
We then looked at writing super sentences using these describing words.
In Year 2 we have to remember Capital letters and Full stops as well as including adjectives.
An amazing result, What super writers we have become.
We have learnt to find 1 more and 1 less on any number given, some of us have even challenged ourselves to finding 10 more and 10 less from any number!
We can use a number square to help us.
Year 2 can recognise number bonds to 10. WOW what a fantastic and busy week we have had!
This week the children have got stuck into their learning.
We have been looking at the book Only One You.
Today we picked a fish from the water bowl and used adjectives to describe the fish.
