We have held some messy play sessions for parents this week. There was lots of mixing, exploring and discussion about the materials and the things the children are learning as they play with them. The children really loved sharing their play with their parents. We hope that you enjoyed the sessions too and will try out the recipes at home!
Pumpkins have proved to be fascinating for the children this week. The children have talked about pumpkins, been imaginative, investigated inside, made marks and used their cutting skills, all while having fun with them.
This week the children have enjoyed making a scarecrow for the school Harvest activities. They decided to have a Bob the Builder scarecrow as they have been busy building in our role play building site. First we made a plan of our scarecrow. The children thought about what Bob looked liked and we drew out a large plan using their ideas. They then showed super sharing and teamwork as they coloured and added to the plan.
Stuffing the scarecrow's clothes was great fun. Bob's hat kept falling off so they had to try different ways to keep it on.
This morning the children noticed that Bob was no longer in the Nursery. We went on a hunt for him and found him in the hall with lots of scarecrow friends.
The children have shown an interest in building this week. Our tool boxes inspired the children to build houses and dens using different materials including blocks, fabrics and boxes. They have planned which materials to use, drawn plans of their buildings, listened to each others' ideas and shown fantastic teamwork constructing their buildings. They even found time to have a tea break!

This week we have been exploring mark making using lots of different materials including paint, chalk, salt and sand. The children have been showing an interest in Postman Pat so we have added a post box to the Nursery which has encouraged a huge amount of mark making as the children write letters to post.
This week we have been enjoying lots of physical activity. The children have been finding lots of different ways to move around and have been practising their steering and stopping on the balance bikes and cars.
A big welcome back to all our regular Little Mixers and to our new children too!
The children have all settled back into Nursery really well and have had fun playing and learning together.
