Oldmixon Primary School is now closed. We remain open between 8am-6pm, Monday-Friday, for children who are identified as vulnerable and children whose parents are critical to the COVID-19 response, as defined in government documentation.

Following a rise in COVID-19 cases in Weston-super-Mare and the precautionary closure of local A&E provision, Trustees have decided to delay the wider reopening of ELAN schools to children in Preschool, YR, Y1 and Y6 by one week.

This will be reviewed by trustees on 4th June. Confirmation of specific year group opening dates, times and procedures will be conveyed to parents and carers following this review.

Year 6 - Aspirations Week

Year 6 have had a fantastic aspirations week, with some fantastic trips and wonderful visitors.

On Monday, they went to Weston College and had a fantastic day with Professor Fluffy.

They took part in various activities throughout the day, culminating in a mini graduation ceremony.

Tuesday saw Year 6 head to Hans Price Academy for a day of workshops with the Into University team.

The morning workshop was around transitioning into secondary school and the afternoon workshop was around aspirations for the future.

Wednesday morning was spent with Mr. Hynes from Bristol Bears Rugby, talking about aspiration in sport and participating in some fantastic sporting activities.

He also spoke to the children about his life in the RAF before he worked in sport.

It was fascinating to hear his stories.

We were thrilled to have a visit from the Fire Service on Thursday morning, who spoke to Year 6 about what it takes to be a fire fighter.

The children had an opportunity to look around the fire engine and ask lots of questions.

Finally, today we had a visit from a local PCSO and PC, who talked to year 6 about what it is like to work for the police.
