Visits and Visitors 2014-2015
On Thursday 16th October we had a day of learning a little about the Hindu religion. We heard the story of Rama and Sita, looked at some beautiful divas and tried on some traditional Hindu saris, prayer shawls and turbans.
We have been lucky to have a North Somerset music workshop, where the children experienced Indian music and instruments.
Farmer Nick came to visit us in school this week. He brought a friend along with him!! Mary the hen!!
We enjoyed learning all about hens and what farmer Nick has to do to look after them.
We then had the story of the little red hen and learnt how to make bread.
We were very lucky and had the dome come and visit us. We learnt all about different environments.
We enjoyed a puppet show with the whole school.
We were very lucky to have a look inside the space dome this week, learning lots of interesting facts about space.
We have also enjoyed a performance from M and M productions of Sleeping Beauty.
Spaceman Harry visited us in school. He told us lots of interesting facts about space and what it's like to be an astronaut. We saw real space food and even found out how they shower in space!!
We had a few visitors come to talk to us about their farms. They spoke to us about where our breakfast comes from. We looked at dairy products and what animals produced.
We looked at what the appropriate clothes for a farmer are.
We had a visit from Old Macdonald he came to see us and taught us lots of new stories. We learnt the story of the Three Little Pigs and Three Billy Goats Gruff. We acted out the stories and used props to create the characters. We got to learn new farm games and play them together. Old Macdonald told us all about his farm and what he does on the farm.
We got to ask Old Macdonald questions about the farm that we wanted to know. We learnt the Old Macdonald song with him all about his farm.
On the 11th May Reception went to farmer Nicks Farm. We went to see all the different animals that live on a farm. We even got to stroke a few animals like the chickens and see what they looked like.
We had a tractor ride that took us through a cow field where we asked all the questions we wanted to. Then we went through the village in Wrington to see what a farm village was like.
We had the opportunity to explore in the woods where we built campfires and dens.
We went pond dipping in farmer Nick’s farm and explored what we could find with our nets.
Reception had a trip to Bristol Aquarium on the 8th June.
They had a sea safari talk and learnt all about animals Under the Sea. They children got to feed the fish and enjoyed looking closely at the fish. The children learnt lots of facts about sea creatures from what they look like and where they are found.
