Year 4 parent event - 23rd October
What an exciting afternoon the children had, presenting their learning to their parents in the form of science activities. The children chose the investigations that they have enjoyed the most from their learning about solids, liquids and gases. Making ice cream was , of course, the most popular choice!
The children really enjoyed teaching their the grown-ups about science and helping them with the activities which included blowing up balloons with bicarbonate of soda and vinegar, making and exploring the properties of gloop and how to make a chocolate button not melt in your mouth.
The afternoon was brought to a close with a brain break. Brain breaks are part of our MindUp programme. We use them several times a day to help us to regulate our breathing and calm our brains ready for new learning. The children lead the brain breaks themselves and this afternoon it was very beneficial to demonstrate how they work and how calming they can be.
