Oldmixon Primary School is now closed. We remain open between 8am-6pm, Monday-Friday, for children who are identified as vulnerable and children whose parents are critical to the COVID-19 response, as defined in government documentation.

Following a rise in COVID-19 cases in Weston-super-Mare and the precautionary closure of local A&E provision, Trustees have decided to delay the wider reopening of ELAN schools to children in Preschool, YR, Y1 and Y6 by one week.

This will be reviewed by trustees on 4th June. Confirmation of specific year group opening dates, times and procedures will be conveyed to parents and carers following this review.

Year 5

Its term 2! Which means Forest School for year 5!

Week 1

The first trip to forest school included learning about the ecology of the forest. Year 5 were then given the chance to build their own forest, using only natural resources. The children are introduced to the 'boundaries' of the forest, which tells them where abouts we are allowed to go. The children designed their own flags using sticks, branches, leaves and anything else the forest had to offer to make their own flags to remind them of the boundaries!

Week 2

What a wet week! Forest school was extremely muddy but it didn't stop Year 5 from having a wonderful time. This week the children made mobiles using leaves, branches and string. The children were incredibly proud of their mobiles. After this, the children were sent on an investigation! They had to find a variety of different leaves and identify them. They described their properties and the location they found them.
