Choir

The Oldmixon Choir was established by Mrs Hince (who loves to sing!) in 2019, and is a lunchtime singing club that is open to children in Years 2-6.

The Choir recruits committed children who are willing to give up the first half of their lunch hour 3 times a week, in return for being part of a very special team, who get the opportunity to showcase their talents not only within the school, but also within the wider Oldmixon community. So far, the Choir has performed at the Royal British Legion, Somerset House, Costa Coffee and at our Friday Golden Assembly.  We are looking to further expand our audiences within the community, so any suggestions for locations to perform, then please let the school office know.

The Choir has proved to be very popular with the children, partly due to the wide variety of musical genres that are covered, and also because the children get a say in the songs that we learn, to keep the content fresh and relevant.

As a school, we value the positive benefits that singing brings to our children, and to support this we subscribe to Sing Up, which is an on-line ‘song-bank’ and associated resources to help us. We have already learnt over 30 different songs, ranging from Disney, Abba, Shawn Mendes, songs from the Greatest Showman and Billie Eilish, to name just a few.

We are excited to see where the Choir go next on their singing journey!!
