Clubs, trips and activities

A letter will be sent out at the beginning of each term with information on how to book on to a club and whether there is a cost for that particular club.

Afterschool clubs are back up and running! This is a great chance for the children to take part in fun activities. These run from 3.15pm and finish at 4.15pm.

  • Monday - Gymnastics with Mrs Pring
  • Tuesday- Board Games with Mrs Martin
  • Thursday - Art with Miss Fletcher

If you would like your child to join us for one of these after school clubs, please ask the office team for more information!

Forest school

Each term one of our year groups from 1 - 6 attend forest school.  Led by our expert, Mrs Parker, the children experience a range of activities in a local wood.  Children have opportunities to get outdoors and undertake learning no matter what the weather.  Activities include team building, awe and wonder of the natural environment, links to the curriculum through Science, Geography and Physical Development as well as developing children's curiosity, stamina and resilience.

If attending forest school your child will need:

  • A change of clothes.
  • They may get wet, muddy, hot or cold.  Layers and waterproofs are great!
  • Long sleeves and trousers / joggers are great so they are fully covered.
  • A change of footwear.
  • Children will need to have sturdy shoes, walking boots or wellies.
  • A water bottle.

Ticks

In any outdoor area you and your child may come across ticks.

These can be troublesome so we advise that you check your child on their return home for these creatures.  They like to find warm areas to hide.

If you find one it will need to be removed as soon as possible.  You can buy a tick remover from the chemist.

Book awards

Every week two children are chosen from each year group to receive a book award. Children can be given a book award for a variety of reasons. It could be for positive behaviour, excellent work or being a kind and caring member of our school. Children get to choose a book from our special Book Award selection and receive their book and a certificate during our Friday Book Award Assembly. Children will then get to take both the certificate and the book home.

Friday Banquet

Children who consistently demonstrate positive behaviour and follow class Golden Rules are invited each week to Friday Banquet where there is music, biscuits and the children are served by staff. Every child that manages to achieve a place at “The Banquet” for a whole term, receives an additional reward.

Our Golden Rules are:

  • In school everyday and on time.
  • Wear the correct school uniform.
  • Behave well in and around school and treat others kindly.
  • Bring your book bag and P.E kit everyday.
  • Read at home 3 times a week.

Well done to our wonderful children who always do the little things well. You deserve your reward. Enjoy your Friday Banquet!

Bug Club

Bug Club is an online reading platform which the school now have access to.  The children will each have their own personal log in that will take them to their account.  Class teachers will be able to allocate books to the children that match their book level in school.  This will mean the children can continue to read at home through the online platform without the physical need of numerous books.  As an added bonus, the online versions of the books have ‘hotspots’ which challenge the children to answer questions based on what they have read.

To access Bug Club, simply search follow this link: https://www.activelearnprimary.co.uk/login?c=0
