Inclusion Team

Our inclusion team is made up of our Designated Safeguarding Lead and deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads. They lead on all aspects of inclusion, not just safeguarding incidents.

Our inclusion team are:

Mrs. Laina Pettifor

I am Mrs Pettifor and have over 20 years of teaching experience, mostly at Oldmixon, during which I have taught across all age ranges from Nursery to year 6.  My current role, interim head of school, ensures each and every day is different, sometimes challenging but always exciting – a job I feel proud and privileged to do. I thoroughly enjoy working  with our wonderful, dedicated staff and I have always loved being part of the Oldmixon family-  a place where everyone is valued, supported and has the opportunity to shine. As an educator I have always believed a fundamental part of a child’s development is to build a learning environment that is inclusive, promotes independence and prepares children for the next stage of their learning journey. I pride myself in creating an environment which is fun, engaging and provides opportunities for all children to achieve. As a mum I know how important it is to feel welcomed, as a parent, and valued as a pupil.  When not at school, I love to spend time with my family – especially my new grandson Ralphie. I love arts and crafts especially knitting and crochet. If I wasn’t a teacher I think I would own a little wool shop, a stone’s throw away from the beach selling homemade cookies and cakes.

Mrs. Dawn Palfrey

I started working at Oldmixon Primary school nearly 20 years ago. My three children came to Oldmixon and enjoyed their time here.  I am Key stage 1 Learning mentor; Year 2 Teaching Assistant and Deputy safeguard lead. I enjoy all aspects of my role and love the family feel that Oldmixon Primary School offers.

Mrs. Karen Hynes

I have worked at Oldmixon for 18 years. I've worked throughout the school, but never in early years! I am learning mentor and deputy safeguarding lead. I have worked in year 6 for many years! My heart lies with the older children; I have a passion for working with KS2 learning. My main focus is attendance and behaviour management. In year 6, we take pride in getting our children ready for secondary school. Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my family and socialising with friends.
