This year, we decided that the children of Oldmixon Primary school would apply to be school counsellors. They filled in an application telling us why they think they would make a great school counsellor. The standard was so high that we congratulated 18 children to form our new school council. Congratulations and well done to all of the children that shared some super ideas to improve and develop our school.

School Council meeting 17/3/25

The school council met to discuss our school environment and suggested ways to improve our school. 

Their ideas will be shared with the senior management team and decide what to action first.

The school council will meet next time to discuss best ideas to fundraise to help support the actions which have been agreed. Some ideas from the meeting were 

Noah- I think a Buddy Bench would be a great idea to help children become friends.

Lottie- I think having music and dancing on the playground would be a great idea. 

Elliott- It would be lovely to plant more flowers and trees on the playground. 

Phoebe- I would like Dodgeball in the MUGA

Tommy- It would be great if we could have Tag Rugby in the MUGA.

Benedict- I would like to help create a student garden. 

We now have a Lost Property Patrol at Oldmixon Primary School. They will be represented by our School Counsellors. Small groups of School Counsellors will patrol the playground at the end of each playtime and deliver any lost property to the correct class. We hope that this will reduce the amount of clothing being  misplaced. 

We are looking forward to working together to improve school life and collecting the views of everyone.
