Teaching Assistants and Learning Mentors

Mrs. Dawn Palfrey -  Learning Mentor and deputy designated safeguarding leads.

I started working at Oldmixon Primary school nearly 25 years ago. My three children came to Oldmixon and enjoyed their time here. My Grand daughters Now attend Oldmixon and absolutely love it.  I am  Learning Mentor and Deputy Safeguarding Lead. I work closely with children and families offering pastoral support and I facilitate small group interventions, helping children explore and recognise their feelings and emotions. I enjoy all aspects of my role and love the family feel that Oldmixon Primary School offers.

Miss Chloe Daniels -  Learning Mentor and deputy designated safeguarding leads.

'I have worked in schools across North Somerset for 8 years and have gained a wealth of knowledge and experience. I have always loved supporting all students and families to access interventions or support they may need.
I am currently in my second year of Uni studying 'Psychology with Counselling'. This is something I am very passionate about and I am excited to use the knowledge I am gaining within the school.

When I am not in work I love spending time with my family and all my fur babies - there are a lot!!'

I am a teaching assistant who has worked at Oldmixon for over 23 years across all age ranges and year groups. I particularly enjoy supporting family club, and spending time to get to know our families in a relaxed environment. For a number or years I have ran forest school and love to see our children engaging outdoors, getting involved in teamwork and importantly having fun!

Mr. Scott Phillis - Year 1 Teaching Assistant

I am a new teaching assistant joining Year 6 after having recently qualified as a teacher. In the past, I have volunteered at other ELAN schools and I completed one of my teaching placements at Oldmixon. I am grateful for the opportunity to return and work with such a fantastic school and group of children. Having always loved STEM subjects, I completed my degree in mathematics and I hope to share some of my knowledge and enthusiasm for it with others!

Mrs Emma Poole (Cox) - Year 5 Teaching Assistant  (Monday - Thursday) and website Lead.

I have worked at Oldmixon for the last 26 years. I came here to Oldmixon as a student from Bridgwater college 28 years ago and then started working in the nursery as a nursery nurse. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my 3 year old son, family and close friends.

I am a Teaching Assistant in year 5. I am from Glasgow, but moved here 15 years ago. I have only ever worked at Oldmixon, and the staff and kids made me feel welcome. I am married and have a daughter and son, and a little Westie dog called Winston. My hobbies are reading and going on long walks with my dog. I absolutely love working at the school, the children are amazing and a credit to the school, I hope I have many more years here.

I have been part of Oldmixon for 34 years. I first joined with my eldest son and have watched both of my children and now granddaughter enjoy their education here at Oldmixon. I was proud to be part of a successful campaign to increase Oldmixon infant school to a growing Primary School. Over the years, I have worked in all classes but my heart lies with the foundation stage.
