Safeguarding
Safeguarding is the action that is taken to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm.
We are dedicated to looking after all our children the best we possibly can. Safeguarding covers children’s physical, social and emotional well-being.
To do this effectively we have one teacher who co-ordinates this work, this person is known as the Designated Teacher for Safeguarding or Designated Safeguarding Lead. Our DSL is Mrs Roxanne Simpson
Any concerns about children’s welfare or wellbeing should be discussed with Roxanne as soon as possible.
If you have a safeguarding query you can also email dsl.safeguarding@oldmixon.extendlearning.org
The school has a ELAN Safeguarding Policy 2020-2021 that is in line with recommendations from NSSCB and updates from Keeping Children Safe in Education 2020. The policy is reviewed annually by governors and is a working document that reflects our practice. Parents/carers can request a paper copy from the office.
During COVID19 Lockdown we have created additional visitor information to ensure we remain COVID safe and secure.

Keeping Children Safe in Education - September 2020
Please see below the statutory guidance from the Department for Education (re-published September 2020). It is imperative that all staff (including volunteers) read Part 1 and Appendix A of this guidance and sign that they have done so (a register exists to determine this). Schools must have regard to the guidance when carrying out their duties to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. This document contains information on what schools should do and sets out the legal duties with which schools must comply.
