Oldmixon Primary School is now closed. We remain open between 8am-6pm, Monday-Friday, for children who are identified as vulnerable and children whose parents are critical to the COVID-19 response, as defined in government documentation.

Following a rise in COVID-19 cases in Weston-super-Mare and the precautionary closure of local A&E provision, Trustees have decided to delay the wider reopening of ELAN schools to children in Preschool, YR, Y1 and Y6 by one week.

This will be reviewed by trustees on 4th June. Confirmation of specific year group opening dates, times and procedures will be conveyed to parents and carers following this review.

Senior Leadership Team

Mrs. Laina Pettifor - Interim Head of School and Designated Safeguarding Lead

I am Mrs Pettifor and have over 20 years of teaching experience, mostly at Oldmixon, during which I have taught across all age ranges from Nursery to year 6.  My current role, interim head of school, ensures each and every day is different, sometimes challenging but always exciting – a job I feel proud and privileged to do. I thoroughly enjoy working  with our wonderful, dedicated staff and I have always loved being part of the Oldmixon family-  a place where everyone is valued, supported and has the opportunity to shine. As an educator I have always believed a fundamental part of a child’s development is to build a learning environment that is inclusive, promotes independence and prepares children for the next stage of their learning journey. I pride myself in creating an environment which is fun, engaging and provides opportunities for all children to achieve. As a mum I know how important it is to feel welcomed, as a parent, and valued as a pupil.  When not at school, I love to spend time with my family – especially my new grandson Ralphie. I love arts and crafts especially knitting and crochet. If I wasn’t a teacher I think I would own a little wool shop, a stone’s throw away from the beach selling homemade cookies and cakes.

Mrs. Roxanne Simpson  - Deputy Headteacher, SENCo and Year 6 class teacher

I began my teaching career at Oldmixon Primary School in 2012 as an NQT and loved being part of the Oldmixon family so much that I stayed! Now in my eighth year of teaching, I have experience working both in KS1 and KS2 but this year returned to teaching Year 6! Passionate about reading, writing and music, I can be found frequently reading poems to my class or enthusiastically singing to and with the school. This year, I have taken on the role of school SENCO, I’m working hard to support and develop our provision and support for our children who have special educational needs.

Mrs. Heidi Hudd - Interim Executive Headteacher

I've been at Oldmixon for 4 years as Headteacher and now Interim Executive Headteacher. I returned to North Somerset having been in Bristol for 5 years. My previous life was in finance and HR, which has supported me in the role of Headteacher. Outside of school I love to walk my dogs, knit, sew and cook
